GENERAL INFORMATION
The CMFC Program is the only industry-recognized mutual fund designation. It is the result of collaboration between the College for Financial Planning and the Investment Company Institute (ICI), the primary trade association for the mutual fund industry. The program’s quality and thoroughness reflect the combined experience and expertise of the College and the ICI.

This program provides you with a thorough knowledge of mutual funds and their various uses as investment vehicles. As a graduate of the program, you can approach mutual funds with a new understanding and confidence, as well as having the ability to communicate that confidence to your clients.

The College for Financial Planning awards the CMFC designation to students who complete the program, pass the final examination, and sign a code of ethics commitment and declaration form. Successful students receive a certificate and are granted the right to use the designation on correspondence and business cards.

PROGRAM MATERIALS
All materials are provided in print and online through your personalized “My Campus” page. The College’s materials support the Hewlett-Packard 10B and 10BII calculators, and all primary keystroke instructions refer to these calculators. Limited support is also provided for the HP-12C calculator. Several other financial-function calculators will perform the necessary calculations and may be used, as long as word-based formulas cannot be programmed into them. However, support for any calculators other than the HP-10B and the HP-10BII will not be provided.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT
Completing the Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor Professional Education Program may fulfill the continuing education (CE) requirements of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. The program may help meet the firm element of the securities industry’s (and therefore each company’s) CE requirements. Individual state Boards of accountancy establish the CPE requirements for each individual state. If you are a CPA who will be submitting CPE from taking the Colleges courses, you will need to make sure that the courses meet your respected state board requirements and report them to your state board.
