GETTING STARTED

How do I get started on the College's Web site?
Click on the “Current Students” link on the left-hand side of the College's home page. This will bring up your log-in page. Please note that your user ID and password are case sensitive, so if you used capital letters when either were created, you will need to log in using those capital letters. After filling in your correct log-in information, you will be able to access the My Campus link to view your courses.

When does my program expire?
To ensure your progress through and completion of our course work on a timely basis, the College has set a maximum length of enrollment for its courses and programs. Students enrolled in the CFP Certification Professional Education Program are permitted a maximum enrollment period of three years. A maximum enrollment period of one year is permitted for students enrolled in the RP®, AAMS®, AWMA®, CMFC®, CRPC®, or CRPS® programs. Testing is required at least every six months in any course.

CFP® CERTIFICATION

Does the College for Financial Planning® award the CFP® certification?
No. The CFP® certification or mark is owned and governed by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. CFP Board determines who will be awarded the CFP® certification/mark based on a set standard of requirements. To obtain further information you should contact the CFP Board directly. The College for Financial Planning® is an educational provider that fulfills the educational requirement for those individuals seeking to obtain the CFP® certification/mark.

MATERIALS

I just passed my exam, when will I receive my next set of CFP Certification Professional Education Program study materials?
Your next set of study materials are shipped to you 10 days after passing your exam.

How can I temporarily stop delivery of my CFP Certification Professional Education Program study materials?
You must contact the Student Services Center no more than five days after you successfully pass your exam. You can reach the Student Services Center at 800-237-9990, or via e-mail.

I would like to take my CFP Certification Professional Education Program courses in a different order than what is currently set up on my account, what do I need to do?
You will need to contact the Student Services Center within five days after passing an exam so that the correct materials can be shipped to you.

ONLINE TESTING

Please note if you are using your business e-mail address there is the potential your company may consider the e-mail providing your proctor login and password as spam. Therefore, you are encouraged to use a personal e-mail address when completing the Proctor Registration form.

When can I take my exam?
You have to wait 24 hours after you enroll in a course before you will be eligible to take a final exam. Be sure to check your eligibility at least 24 hours before taking an exam to ensure that an exam will be available for you.

Where do I take an exam?
CFP Certification Professional Education Program students: If you use a disinterested third party as your proctor you can take the exam from any computer with an Internet connection. Be sure you can spend up to four hours of uninterrupted time at the location you choose. You can also take your exam at a participating testing center and pay a testing fee.

Professional Designation students must test at a testing site and pay a testing fee for each exam; there are no free retakes. After paying your testing fee to the College you should contact the testing vendor at the number listed below to schedule an appointment and locate a testing site equipped to access the College's exams. Only specific testing centers have access to the Internet and are capable of administering the College's exams.

What is the best time of day to take an exam?
Ideally, you should schedule your exam to begin during the College's normal business hours of 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Mountain time. You are welcome to schedule your exam outside these hours; however, you will not be able to contact the College for technical support.

Can I use a calculator on the exam?
Yes, you may use a financial calculator that is not alpha-programmable.

Do I have to use the same proctor for each exam?
No, you can use a different proctor for each exam if you prefer. However, each proctor has to register on the College's website and obtain their own unique proctor ID and password.

Do I have to complete the exam in one sitting?
Yes, you have a maximum of four hours to complete your exam. If an exam is abandoned, it will be deleted from the College's system and you will have to start the exam over.

Can I change my answers once I have submitted them?
Yes, you can change your answers even after you have pressed the "Submit Answer" button for each question. You can review any question again and change the answer as often as you like. Make sure you are satisfied with all your answers at the Exam Review screen before submitting the entire exam. Once you have submitted the entire exam by clicking on the "Submit Exam" button, answers can no longer be changed nor can the exam be retrieved.

Do I receive immediate results?
Yes, the exam is graded immediately after you submit it and a brief summary is displayed.

How will the College know the results of my exam?
Your exam information is sent via the Internet to the College. Our computer system grades your exam, records the information, and immediately returns the results to the terminal on which you tested.

I was unsuccessful on my first exam, how long do I have to wait to retest?
You must wait a minimum of 24 hours before you can retest. This gives you time to do additional study on the subject matter in which you were weak. This 24-hour wait period cannot be waived.

How many times can I test?
Professional Designation students must test at a testing site and pay a testing fee for each exam. There are no free retakes; however, you may test as many times as needed. CFP Certification Professional Education Program students can test two times (your original exam and one retest) at no charge from the College. If you need to test a third or subsequent time, there is an exam rescheduling fee that must be paid to the College at least 24 hours before you want to test.

I have outdated materials, what will I be tested on?
When you received your study materials, an exam was generated based on the information in those materials. Unless you purchase the updated study materials, you will be tested on the information in the books you have in your possession.

My proctor has lost/forgotten their password and Proctor ID, now what?
Your proctor will need to access the College's website and re-register as a proctor. If their password and Proctor ID are still in the College's database, a notice to this effect will appear on the screen and the password and Proctor ID will be e-mailed to them again. This process can take 24 hours. The College staff does not have access to proctor passwords or proctor IDs and cannot provide that information via telephone or e-mail.

I am located outside of the United States – how do I take an exam?
You need to find a proctor to monitor you while you are taking an exam at your home or business via the Internet. International testing sites are not set up to do testing on the College's website.

Who can be a proctor?
If you are not going to use the passing of this course for any kind of continuing education credit, you can use a disinterested third party as your proctor. If you would like to receive CE credit for passing this exam, the proctor requirements are determined by the state that will be granting the CE credit. For more information please check the catalog on the College's website.

How will I log in to the exam when testing? 
When utilizing an individual proctor you will use your login and password provided by the College at the time of your enrollment. This is the same login and password used to access My Campus and your online study materials. You may contact the Student Services Center if you need this information.  If you are testing at a testing center the testing administrator will help you access your examination.

TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES

What settings are necessary for the on-site computer before taking the exam?
Computer requirements can be found in the catalog on the College's web site.

The navigation keys are not working. What can I do to correct this?
Your browser must be configured to check the server for new versions of stored pages. You can correct your browser setting with the following steps:

Internet Explorer browser
Tools>Internet Options>Settings>. Make sure “Check for newer versions of stored pages Every visit to the page” is marked.

Netscape
Edit>Preference>Advanced>Cache> Make sure “Every time” is selected.

Will I lose my answers if the computer locks up or the computer goes down?
No, as long as you have used the Submit Answer button after answering each question, all the information will remain in the College's database. You will be able to resume the exam at the first unanswered question the computer finds.

I was disconnected from the Web during my test what do I do?
You will need to close all your browser windows and then you and your proctor will need to log in to the online testing system again. The College's computer will then take you to the first unanswered question on your exam.

PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATION PROGRAM COMPLETION

What happens now that I have passed the exam for one of your professional designation programs?
Once you have completed the examination for the Registered ParaplannerSM, Accredited Asset Management SpecialistSM, Accredited Wealth Management AdvisorSM, Chartered Mutual Fund CounselorSM, Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM or the Chartered Retirement Plans SpecialistSM you will receive an e-mail with instructions to visit the College's web site and complete the online Designation Application. This form requires you to acknowledge adherence to the Standards of Professional Conduct and to disclose any investigations or legal proceedings. You must also acknowledge adherence to the College's Terms and Conditions governing the use of the College's marks. RP® graduates must also complete an Internship form. Once your application has been approved, you will be sent an acknowledgement e-mail from the College and your certificate will be mailed to you.
