Awarded annually to an individual who is new to the financial planning field (less than five years) and who shows significant potential for industry leadership.
This scholarship honors the achievements of David M. King, who held the position of board chairman at three major financial planning organizations: The College for Financial Planning (1983-1985); The Institute for Certified Financial Planners (1979-1980); and the first Chairman of the Certified Financial Planner Board (1985-1987).
ExperienceYou must have less than five years of experience in financial planning or a related field. Specific criteria include: your work experience during the last five years; licenses, designations, recognitions received, or any academic accomplishments; and unsolicited letters from past clients.
LeadershipLeadership qualities may be evidenced by such criteria as: supervisory experience, business management skills, seminar presentations, committee chairmanships, and any non-work-related positions of authority or responsibility.
Community ServiceAn assessment of community service involvement will be based on factors including your participation in public service causes, committees and organizations. Awards, speaking engagements, or other types of recognition also will be considered by the College committee.
Commitment to a Career in Financial PlanningYou must provide a written statement describing your commitment to become a CFPâ certificant. In addition, your supervisor or nominator should provide a written statement describing your potential as a CFPâ certificant and why you should receive this award. Each statement should be limited to a maximum length of one 8 1/2" x 11" page, or the equivalent.

Awarded annually to a recipient with five or more years of experience in the financial planning profession to assist in satisfying the educational requirement for the CFP® certification.
This scholarship is in honor of the late Ferdinand Nauheim, a founding father of the College and the second chairman of its Board of Regents.
In choosing the recipient, the College reviews nominations of individuals who have already achieved outstanding success in financial planning and who show promise of being future industry leaders.
